Carlos Alcaraz won against
Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals of the
ATP Finals in Turin by 6-2, 6-4 and guaranteed a final showdown against Jannik Sinner to conclude the season. The World No. 1 and No. 2 will face each other this Sunday for the 6th time this year—all in finals, with Alcaraz holding a 4-1 advantage during 2025.
The 6-time major champion advanced to the ATP Finals final for the first time—his 11th final of the season—in which he will seek his 9th title of 2025. Alcaraz was dominant from the serve once again, winning 82% of points on his first serve, and it took him only one hour and one minute to close out the 52nd victory of his career against a Top 10 player.
Auger-Aliassime, for his part, bids farewell to the tournament with a notable close to the season. In recent months, he secured his place in the
ATP Finals—climbing from outside the Top 20 to the Top 8 in just a few months—and ends the year with his best historical ranking as World No. 5.
Alcaraz breaks down Auger-Aliassime's serve in first set
From the very beginning, Alcaraz looked confident in hunting for the break. Auger-Aliassime faced a 0-40 deficit in his first service game, but managed to survive with several strong first serves. It was only a warning from Alcaraz, who took only a few more minutes to secure another pair of break opportunities and quickly take the lead.
The 6-time major champion continued with good first serves and took a 4-1 lead, looking more aggressive than his rival from the baseline. Several cross-court forehand winners gave Alcaraz the break in the 8th game, and he ended up taking the set 6–2, with 12 winners against 6 from Auger-Aliassime. The Spaniard had won 80% of points on his first serve compared to just 48% for Auger-Aliassime.
Auger-Aliassime's nerves pave way for Alcaraz
As the second set began, the Canadian attempted to recover from a first set where he never managed to feel comfortable winning his service games. With the score at 2-1 in favor of Alcaraz, problems arose for Auger-Aliassime, who struggled after leading 40-0 and committed up to four unforced errors that showed his nervousness at this stage of the match. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old managed to recompose himself and keep pace with Alcaraz, with both players holding their serves without major issues.
Auger-Aliassime felt the nerves in the deciding moments of the set when, trailing 4-5, he conceded a couple of break opportunities to his rival. He saved the first with a good first serve, but a subsequent forehand unforced error from Auger-Aliassime ended up giving Alcaraz the victory with a comfortable 6-2, 6-3 scoreline after just one hour and one minute.
