Jannik Sinner has been the king of tennis this season but he might not play in the
Madrid Open Quarter-Final in the first real chink in his armour after he seemed to be struggling with an injury in his win over Pavel Kotov 6-2, 7-5.
Sinner will now face Karen Khachanov but with Rome on the horizon may decide late to withdraw and try and preserve his body ahead of his homecoming where he could become World No.1. He admitted to such an issue post match after defeating Kotov and said that he will make the decision when he gets up today (Tuesday).
The Italian will make a late decision as on some days it feels good and others it doesn't. But it will be still touch and go whether he even plays on Tuesday. The first doubts creep in this season for the Italian. "I have been struggling a little bit with my right hip. We're trying to find a solution and I don't think it's anything serious. Sometimes I feel it more like today and some days are a little bit better. I have a good team behind me and we'll try to get my body going for tomorrow," he said on court.
"And we'll decide tomorrow what's best for me and what's best for the body," Sinner added.
