Novak Djokovic's withdrawal from the Miami Open in order to balance his 'personal' and 'professional' schedule according to social media asks more questions than gives answers admits Tim Henman as he spoke prior to the Indian Wells semi-final.
Quizzed about the withdrawal, Laura Robson saw a more pragmatic approach that Djokovic likely wants to just spend time with his family and is wanting to cherish the moments instead of re treading old ground at tournaments he has already played and won.
"I feel like when you're away from your kids so often, he just misses them so much. Whether that's the reason, I'm not totally sure. It really could be anything because it's not that specific but he spoke about it a lot in Australia that he misses them when he's away and it's a huge sacrifice for him not to be there and he wants them to see him play tennis. But equally the moments at home are just as important to him and he's won everything, do you need to win another Miami or even play that week if you're not feeling 100% about it no," said former British No.1 Robson on Sky Sports.
But Henman saw the reasoning that he could've just elaborated further and not had the speculation that comes with a cryptic post. He is next entered in to play Monte Carlo in a few weeks.
"It's quite revealing in some respects because it could have been very easy to just say my elbow is a bit sore, heavy balls in the Desert and I'm going to take time off and no-one would've said anything," replied Henman.
"But when you elaborate down those avenues then I think it does lead to speculation when you're talking about your professional and personal life. Fingers crossed he can sort out his issues and we can see him back on court in the not too distant future."
