History of the ATX Open

In March 2022, Austin received a gift - the right to host a WTA 250 tournament. After an 11-year hiatus of professional tennis in Texas, the excitement was palpable. Come February 2023, the Westwood Country Club played host to the inaugural ATX Open, a vibrant tapestry woven with top competition and Texan hospitality.
The first edition saw a field buzzing with talent. Former Grand Slam champions Sloane Stephens and Danielle Collins graced the courts, alongside rising stars like Marta Kostyuk and Anna Kalinskaya.
In a final befitting the Texan drama, Kostyuk, then ranked No. 52, emerged victorious against Varvara Gracheva. The win not only marked her first career WTA title, but also propelled her into the Top 40, showcasing the platform the ATX Open offered to rising stars
