With the
end of Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejcikova stole the spotlight in
the tennis world, a recognition that also spread across social media with
congratulations from legends and fellow players. Additionally, they grabbed
attention off the court by bringing back the traditional Wimbledon champions'
dance in an unprecedented video that went viral on social media.
The finals
of the Euro Cup and Copa America kept several tennis players glued to their
screens, sharing their impressions following Spain's victory over England in
Berlin and Argentina's win over Colombia in Miami.
Champions dance between Alcaraz and Krejcikova
The
Wimbledon men's and women's singles champions attended the Wimbledon champions'
dinner. A decades-old tradition at Wimbledon had the winners of the men's and
women's draws opening the party with a dance, although since 1977, the activity
has been at the participants' discretion.

Alcaraz
delivered one of the best performances of his career on Sunday, comfortably
defeating 7-time champion Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4). The Spaniard added
his second trophy at the All England Club and was the guest of honor at the
champions' ceremony alongside women's champion Barbora Krejcikova. The Czech
triumphed 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 over Jasmine Paolini in the final, securing the Venus
Rosewater Dish.
The
champions appeared in high spirits at the champions' dinner and decided to
revive the tradition of the champions' dance. The last time this occurred was
in 2015, when Serena Williams and Djokovic danced to the Bee Gees' "Night
Fever." Since then, the champions had not followed this tradition. This
time, Alcaraz took the initiative to bring back the tradition, inviting
Krejcikova to dance. The Czech enthusiastically joined him on stage to the
applause of the hundreds of guests.

Djokovic and Nadal send their regards to Alcaraz
Sunday's
runner-up Novak Djokovic posted a message on X congratulating Alcaraz after his
decisive loss in the final. The Spaniard delivered a masterful performance to
secure a 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 victory, claiming his second Wimbledon title. Alcaraz
has also become the second player to defeat Djokovic twice at SW19, joining
Tomas Berdych.

22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal shared a photo on Instagram where he
was watching Alcaraz's match and extended his congratulations to his
compatriot. Alcaraz now matches Nadal with two titles at the All England Club,
making them the only Spanish men to win there in the Open Era (alongside
Garbine Muguruza and Conchita Martinez in the women's category):

Alcaraz
received congratulations from several players and former players, who took to
social media to salute the now 2-time Wimbledon champion, including Juan Martin
Del Potro, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Garbine Muguruza, Victoria Azarenka, and Iga
Swiatek.
The
Spaniard shared a photo with the champion's trophy and received greetings from
his colleagues. Billie Jean King wrote, "Congratulations to the
champion." Holger Rune added, "Congratulations," while Hubert
Hurkacz commented, "Congrats," along with applause emojis. Boris
Becker wrote, "You are an amazing player with a special gift called
tennis. Celebrate with your loved ones and keep dreaming."
Former
Brazilian Ballon d'Or winner Kaká greeted Alcaraz: "Congratulations
Crack," while Spain's 2-times UEFA Champions League champion Sergio
Roberto commented: "Congratulations." Former Real Madrid player and
five-time Champions League winner Marcelo also left a salute.

racer Oscas Piastri, cyclist Alberto Contador and motorcycling rider David
Alonso were other prominent sportsmen who left words for Alcaraz.

In a
weekend full of football, during the early hours of the European morning, at
the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, the Copa America final was played, in which
Argentina won a new international championship after beating Colombia 1-0,
despite an injury to Messi that forced him to leave the field in the second
half.
Argentina's
Diego Schwartzmann was attentive to what his national team was doing and shared
a message on Twitter celebrating his team's triumph: "What a final. What
