The St Petersburg Open final is here as Daniil Medvedev looks to continue his excellent form as he takes on Borna Coric after edging past Belarusian qualifier Egor Gerasimov 7-5, 7-5.

Medvedev is into his first final on home soil; he has become the fifth player currently playing to reach five consecutive finals joining Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic to achieve that feat.
After wins in Sofia and Cincinnati he will aim to make it a third with St Petersburg; but the World No.4 who will be favourite isn't taking Coric lightly calling him tough and that he's hoping for a great fight.
"I'm extremely happy to be in my first final in my home country," Medvedev said. "I came here to try to win the tournament, that's what I'm doing... I'm looking forward to [the final]. Tough opponent, and hopefully a great fight tomorrow."

Comeback kid Coric does the business against Sousa

Coric showed how good he is though with a victory over Joao Sousa; where he ran away with it after losing the first set 3-6, 7-6, 6-1.
It is a first final for Coric since the Shanghai Masters back in 2018; but the World No.15 will aim for his first title since Halle last year against the in-form Russian and after producing another comeback; he hopes that in future he doesn't make it so tough for himself.
“I don't know, to be honest. I don't like [losing the first set], either. I would love to be in two sets. Maybe one day, hopefully it's going to come one day,” Coric said.
He spoke about the final and admitted that after three good games he is looking forward to facing off against Medvedev in the final, a player who he has a 4-1 Head to Head record over including winning the last three. Can he spoil the Russian's dominance on home soil?
"I think I played three very good matches, especially today," Coric said. "It's great. I'm looking forward to the final."
